I'm back!
Well. As you know, I've been rather absent for quite a while now. The reason for that is because the last few months (from Christmas to, well, now, to be exact) have been a bit rocky for me, emotionally.
I don't know how many of you that know this, but I've remained in ninth form due to missing about three years of school. First I spent most of third year, half of fourth year and half of fifth year at home due to my body collapsing because of all my allergies, and thus also looking like an anorexia victim. Then I was absent as good as whole eighth year because I was clinically depressed. So. Anyhow, I had a few things to catch up on, naturally.
However, next term I'll change school (again -- this'll be my sixth one, I think) and it'll be a huge change, since I'm transferring to upper secondary school. You see, the school system in Sweden is divided into two different comprehensive schools: the nine-year school and the three-year long upper secondary school. Nine-year school is divided into three sub-groups: the junior level for kids age 7-9, the intermediate level for age 10-11, and the senior level for age 12-15 -- don't ask me why the intermediate level only has two years. Anyhow, then, when you start the upper secondary school, you get to choose which subjects you want emphasis on. There are over twenty different options now, I think. I won't bore you with even more details, but in short, it's a big difference to the nine-year school-
Whoa. Info-dump, huh? Well, what I want to say is that there's a bloody humongous change is in front of me, and it's turning me into a nervous wreck. That and add a state of semi-hibernation and Anna is a very unsocial creature. But now spring is here, with its much longed-for sunlight and Swedish spring-craziness, so I'm starting to feel much better. ♥
Oh, and it's also my birthday tomorrow. That might help things as well. *g* I'll be seventeen, and thus legally allowed everywhere to read NC-17 rated fics. Hurrah! ♥ I can finally admit to reading porn and not worry about people freaking out. Well, at least no more than they already are.
You see how much I ramble? I clearly need to be more social.
Oh, and recs, because I can:
An End To Nicknames by ineffabilitea
Summary: Remus and Sirius take creative revenge on a Mary Sue (of sorts).
A hilarious one-shot, where the author grinds her axe on the infamous Nicknames. Borderline crack, with special appearance of Mary Sue Midgen. Short and to the point, with good characterization and lovely punch-line.
Rating/Warnings: G // Crack, gen
The Trouble With Moonys by
latenightcuppa
Summary: Frank was going to be the next Jimi Hendrix. Or so he insisted.
A one-shot that
latenightcuppa wrote for meee. Yes, I'm disgustingly big-headed about this, but dammit, this is a brilliant little fic and it's for me. I mean, it has Remus playing the guitar, Sirius being all wonderful, and the delicious pre-slash tension. What's not to like? ♥

Hope Is A Thing With Feathers by

Summary: [AU] Two weeks after Sirius Black fell beyond the Veil, Harry is in the midst of mourning (though he doesn’t want to talk about it), the Ministry is still indecisive, Tonks is a bit confused, and Lupin is… well, Lupin has other things on his mind. But Harry and company must learn that not everything is as it seems and the difference between believing and madness is not so straightforward.
Yeah, this one is old and well-known, but that doesn't mean it can't be recommended again! Out of all the great Bring Back Black-fics there are, this one is probably my favourite. Remus' characterization is simply amazing, delicate and human and sly and powerful and totally kicking arse, and Harry is not at all as annoying as he usually is. This is a story so romantic it leaves Pride and Prejudice in the dust, but at the same time it's far from soppy. It has a strong and gripping plot while still managing to focus on the characters, and it's enthralling without being dizzying, and-- Oh, bugger this for a lark. Just read this, yeah? Even if you already have, read it again. This is how you write novel-length stories.
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 (one section NC-17) // Angst, implied canon character death, implied torture, discussion of mental derangement, post-OotP, AU (Bring Back Black)
Once In A Blue Moon by
fullmoon_dreams
Summary: An AU Remus/Sirius story set in a world where an eleven year old werewolf named Remus Lupin never got his Hogwarts invitation, and where Sirius Black was not accepted by the rest of the Gryffindors. The two outcasts form a friendship despite overwhelming odds, but will their friendship survive when Sirius finds himself falling in love with his best friend...his friend who wants nothing more than to be 'normal', despite the passion he feels for the heir to the Noble House of Black.
I actually avoided this story for a good while before I finally sat down and read it. I mean, in this fic Remus has a (older) brother named Romulus, and it's a WIP (52 chaps of 71 are up, and they're all written) and just, you know, it's an epic AU. So yeah, I was rather sceptical at first. Then I read the prologue and chapter one, and I was hooked. This fic could easily be over-the-top and flighty and just really poor, but oh no. The plot is well thought-out and brilliantly written, and the characterization is so good it hurts -- Romulus is one of the best-written OCs I've ever seen.
fullmoon_dreams avoid all the usual pitfalls when it comes to both AUs and epic fics with a natural grace, and it's purely a delight to read this. Gods, if this was a book, I would buy it, hands down.
Rating/Warnings: PG-15 // WIP, mishmash-genre, Remus/someone-not-Sirius, violence, minor character deaths, non-graphic sex, OCs
