I'm an on-and-off reader of the Swedish science magazine Illustrerad Vetenskap ("Science Illustrated" in English) and in their latest number they had an article about beauty. It was interesting, pretty focused on the whole biological aspect of it, and they presented several manipulated faces that people participating in the experiment had found more beautiful than real faces. Among those, there was an image that showed the most unattractive vs. the most attractive (manipulated) faces in both men and women. This is what scientists came up with:



I... can't say I agree with that. They look far too bland and scary. If I got to have a say on the subject, I'd actually say that this is a lot more accurate:

XD No, they're not scans. I suspect that in that case it'd be reversed. For some reason most people don't seem to find Tim Roth knickers-dropping sexy. I can't see why! ♥

(Of course I was dissing! :D But then it wasn't ~*~personal~*~, but more in a "I don't like these persons. *points"* way, rather than a "You're wrong! :D" way. *g* But no hard feelings; aquabbling about which actors are hot or not is not something I get to do a lot, and it's fun!)

I agree completely. :/ I usually prefer screen-caps over photoshots, because they're at least a little bit less manipulated. Promo shots are the worst though, no?

I think they were being harsh about the people, they weren't what I'd say is unattractive at all, or necessarily attractive either, but they're normal looking people and there's nothing wrong with that. The poor things. I agree with you on how they made them simply too bland! *sigh*

Does it make you happier if I say that the first choices are computer-manipulated, and not real persons? :) But yes, I agree. Personally I think the "unattractive" ones look like someone's brother or sister. You know, a bit bland but nice. I'd have to know more about their personalities to make a real opinion of them.

*shrug* Well, the pictures of the famous people are just my own opinions. The faces in the first pic are computer-manipulated. And I don't know, that's what they said was unattractive from a biological point of view. Personally, I think they're wrong, but then again I always seem to think the opposite than the majority.
