"They tell me to breathe easy for a while"

Waaaah. I can't be quiet any longer; I've been home sick for the last two days (fatigue-cold + horrible PMS/period = blarghity x100) and I have had far too little social interaction. So I need to vent.

- Last week I had a test in biology (about the animal kingdom) and I got the results back two days ago. Passed with great distinction, which is the highest mark here in Sweden. \o/ At the same day, I had a test in civics about Europa's countries and their capitals (we had to fill a skeleton map). I remembered them all! \o/ Which is sort of surprising, seeing that I barely knew where Belgium is a week ago. (The capital of Moldova: Chisinau. The capital of Slovakia: Bratislava. The capital of Montenegro: Cetinje. Should I go on? *g*)

- Apparently, my stupid ADHD-brain and I have problems in our communication. This is how our conversations have looked the past week:

Me: Alright, let's sit down and write a little then. *opens WordPad*
Brain: Oh, but the weather is nice, let's look out the window!
Me: No, I want to write. Concentrate.
Brain: Can't. Oh, look, you haven't checked your f-list in the past five minutes. Click!
Me: But I want to write!
Brain: Don't care! Ooooh, shiny. Let's read fanfic instead!
Me: Don't want to. I've told you: I want to write.
Brain: I'm too confused and scattered for that.
Me: Argh. *closes WordPad*
Brain: ...
Me: ...
Brain: ... You know, a story about Sirius as an artist would be nice, don't you think?
Me: NO. I already have enough projects going on; I don't need another idea.
Brain: Don't care about projects. I want you to write the artist!Sirius fic. Now.
Me: ... :<

So, yeah. That's how it looks. *headdesk* I hate my ADHD with the passion of a thousand bloody burning suns. Argh. Thus, all of my projects are put on ice -- I'm not abandoning them, oh no, I'm just trying to save myself from even more stress and hysterics. At least my brain leaves me alone when it comes to my art. Always something. (And yes, I'm actually pondering on a fic where Sirius has drawing as a hobby. Would it be too out-of-character for him?)

- I've broken my vow to ignore all that happens after PoA and have started to listen to GoF. I've managed to forget very much of the plot, it seems. I don't recall Moody being quite as awesome, though Rita Skeeter is just as bad as I remembered, if not worse. Everything seems to go slower in this book, though. It's almost boring at some places. Or is it just because I'm not as hopelessly in love with it as I am with PoA?

Oh, and the main reason I'm feeling so annoyingly cheerful? The Daily Prophet mentioned me!

Excerpt from The Daily Prophet; Term 12, Issue 3:
Next, we have a piece from Anna ([livejournal.com profile] anna_bm) of Ravenclaw, with what may be her best work yet (you can see the constant improvement!):

[The drawing in question]

It's Remus Lupin, fresh out of Hogwarts and into the 70's! Anna herself admits that the clothes don't scream 1970, but who would argue with a fedora-topped, sports-jacketed, smoking Lupin? This piece is called The Graduate, and it definitely sums up a fresh Hogwarts Graduate's emotions: determined, steadfast, and independent. Remus' rigid, straight pose definitely shows these three characteristics, yet the distant look on his face may seem to tell that there is a hopeful future ahead of him. Though young, Remus' face has been tainted by the numerous scars he obtains from his "furry little problem", and Anna's portrait didn't fail to show this important detail. The colors are rather well-done, and the blending of the colored pencils was done with much care. All in all, it's an amazing work of fan-art, and Ravenclaw house should rejoice to have yet another prodigious fanartist on the loose!

AKJDKSFJDDGSJGFGJFGOJFHPJGHGJHFGHJJ! <3 <3 JOYOUS CAPSLOCK KEYBOARD-SMASH-OF-DOOM!
Yes, I'm just a little overjoyed with this. Hell, I'm half-crying and have several happiness-induced aches all over my body which only proves how pathetic I am. Sod not dragging mum and dad into fandom; they've got to see this! Weeheee~! <3

Fic Recs:

Title: Sirius Black Is Just A Little Sick And Twisted [written by [livejournal.com profile] nyxty]
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 // non-crackish crack
The reason why you should read this fic? Because it's the best post-Prank!fic there is, says I. It's stupendous in the way it manages to blend crack-worthiness with madness and angst; I both cried and laughed like a loon when I read this. [livejournal.com profile] nyxty's Sirius is brilliantly insane and her Remus' level-headedness is a nice contrast. [livejournal.com profile] nyxty also manages to convey so much via the show-don't-tell technique, and it's a pure delight to read her works. In short, it's a brilliant, brilliant fic that can be read again and again.

Title: A Girl Like Me [written by [livejournal.com profile] violet_quill]
Rating/Warnings: NC-17 // semi-het, sex, genderfuck
As soon as you read the summary ("So Sirius is straight, huh? Well, if he wants a girl, Remus is bloody well going to give him a girl.") you just know that this is going to be hilarious. It's written in an amusingly quirky style, and [livejournal.com profile] violet_quill herself said that "the narrator sounds like a pornographic Lemony Snickett." And not only do you get humour that makes you double over with laughter, but also very steamy smut. Despite the presence of Gryffinwhore!Sirius, I love this fic with all my heart and have already reread it six times.

PS. Sorry for the squee-ness and bad language in this entry. When I'm not quite as muddle-headed and high, I'll be back with a more coherent and bearable entry. Until then, hope you are well!

Magnetized Alignments is on my rec-list. *g* Yes, that is beautiful. (The scene where James and Peter stumble in on Sirius playing and Remus's lying beside him and being all possessive? Best. Thing. Ever.)

I'm currently confusing myself with my writing style, actually. Normally I have a very plain and verbose style, but lately I've been starting to write more subtly and sparse. I wonder why; maybe my meds are messing with me? Oh well, I hope it will turn out "wonderful", like you said. <3

Yes, isn't [livejournal.com profile] nyxty just plain awesome? I strongly recommend everything else by her; her Sirius is always as insane and hilarious.
Other fics I adore? Well, If Living Is Without You (http://community.livejournal.com/fullmooncircle/5195.html) by [livejournal.com profile] loveliesfamous is one of the few post-OotP/HBP fics I've ever read. It's slightly AU, seeing it features Remus who is not entirely right in the head. Contains Tonks/Remus and is utterly heart-breaking, but it must not be missed! If you haven't read it already, then run away and do so; if you have read it, then read it again.
Behind the Times (http://shackinup-sesa.livejournal.com/12125.html) by [livejournal.com profile] moony doesn't feature an insane Remus or Sirius, but it has glam!Sirius (as well as a certain other !Sirius...) and who can resist that? It's very amusing and thoughtful at certain places, so it's really an excellent read. Go read!
The Patterns We Repeat (http://www.fictionalley.org/authors/miss_suzanne/PWR01a.html) by Miss Suzanne is a fic I just can't stop reccing. It blends thoughtfulness, hilarity, romance and realism in the most perfect way. Sirius is adorably nuts (not quite as insane as [livejournal.com profile] nyxty's, but still mad) and Remus is too lovely for words. It's one of those fics that leaves you with a warm feeling of contentment after you've finished reading it.

The patterns we repeat is certainly one of my fav fics, too. And the one by loveliesfamous, I read it, and it doesn't surprise me that it's awesome. Do you know A Feast in Azkaban by nyxfixx? This is the most perfect fiction I've ever read, and has the most wonderful characterisation of Sirius - at least he's exactly the way as I see him.

Thank you for the recs! They were awesome :)
