I've been visiting my grandmother, and that's the reason why I disappeared for the last few days. I'm sorry if I missed anything important!

- I was internetless when I was at grandma's woe is me so I had to entertain myself otherwise. Naturally, I was drawn to the bookshelves. My grandmother is very interested in the history of art, and thus she had a zillion books on that subject. To my great astonishment, I found that I actually enjoyed some of the paintings. I still think that paintings and "fine" art is a bit of a highbrow, and I still get annoyed when artists can't portray humans correctly (I know it's called manner, but I still get annoyed when the anatomy is messed up) but some of the paintings weren't all bad. Rubens is quite alright, and I adore John William Waterhouse. I love his Hylas and the Nymphs so, so much. ♥

- If you search the net for pictures of a certain actor *cough*DavidThewlis*cough*, save the lot of them on your computer, print out the very best (which happens to be you-really-don't-want-to-know-how-many-no-I-mean-it-you-really-don't-want-to-know) and tell yourself you'll use them as reference, can you still avoid the Obsessed Fan-label? Or is it inevitable when you do the same with another actor *cough*GaryOldman*cough*? *eyes giant stack of printed-out pictures*

- This song is ace. Apart from having a pretty melody, the lyrics are fantastic.
I'm so into you / But I'm way too smart for you / Even my henchmen think I'm crazy / I'm not surprised that you agree / If you could find some way to be / A little bit less afraid of me / You'd see the voices that control me from inside my head / Say I shouldn't kill you yet / Picture the two of us alone inside my golden submarine / While up above the waves my doomsday squad ignites the atmosphere / And all the fools who live their foolish lives may find it quite explosive / But it won't mean half as much to me if I don't have you here
Jonathan Coulton, how I love thee. ♥

- I'm currently out of ideas of what to write. It's not that I have have writer's block, I just can't figure out a good plot. I'm not working on it, however, seeing I'm signing up for both [livejournal.com profile] brighty18 and [livejournal.com profile] littlemissgg's Secret Santa Clandestine, Nondenominational Holiday Friend Exchange and [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts, so I'll have my hands full in a few days time. So instead I'm focusing on my art. Which consists of three-- wait, four drawings waiting to be drawn.
Firstly I have the drawing for [livejournal.com profile] roterhimmel that I already have planned and even sketched out (See, I haven't forgotten it, P!). Then I have a three-panel long dialogue-less morph between a drawing and comic, that I sincerely hope won't turn out awful. Thirdly, I really, really, really want to draw a Black family portrait. That will however take ages to get finished, seeing I'll have to draw all four characters with great detail. Which leads me to my fourth drawing-to-be: the Lupin family. Only three members, so it shouldn't be quite as hard as the Black one. Oh well, let's hope I'll manage to do all of these!

- I've finally got the appointment with the allergist: December 3rd. \o/ It's so much sooner than I had expected. This calls for celebration! ♥

- Also, have you noticed my pretty new icon? *g* [livejournal.com profile] planetgal471 made it for me. ♥

Fic recs

Title: Quite Dashing [written by [livejournal.com profile] latenightcuppa]
Rating/Warnings: PG // bittersweetness
First of all, this fic was written for meeeeee, but that's not the only reason I love it. No, I love it because it's thoughtful and sweet and sad, and it gives such a great insight in Remus' life between Hogwarts and Halloween '81. And [livejournal.com profile] latenightcuppa's Sirius is to die for. In short, it's 679 words of love.

Title: How Remus Lupin Went To Hogwarts [written by [livejournal.com profile] planetgal471]
Rating/Warnings: G // gen
Well, who woulda thunk? I read a gen-fic. Then again, it's brilliant, so that's probably why. Ten-year-old Remus Lupin meets Albus Dumbeldore, and the two of them have a conversation. I see so much of myself in young Remus, and I adore him so much it almost hurts. Also, [livejournal.com profile] planetgal471 gives us the undeniable reason why Remus would come to end up in Gryffindor and not in Ravenclaw.

Title: When It All Fades Into Nothing [written by [livejournal.com profile] roterhimmel]
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 // bad language, gen, angst
Another gen-fic, this time about Sirius. Now, I'm a bit awful and have trouble reading fics where I don't agree with the backstory of the characters. However, [livejournal.com profile] roterhimmel seems to have the exact same view on Sirius and his family as I do. The defiance, the fear, the grief; it's all perfectly captured. It's only 1 857 words long, so go and read it now. Seriously; if you don't do it, you're missing out on something brilliant.

Title: A Night At The Opera [written by [livejournal.com profile] latenightcuppa]
Rating/Warnings: PG // smoking!Remus, non-sugary fluff
Also written for me. *preens* Alright, I'll be serious. It's a post-Hogwarts drabble, and normally I keep myself to the MWPP-era, but this is just too beautiful to be ignored. It's just... well, I suppose 'lovely' is a good word.

Title: Animals [written by [livejournal.com profile] planetgal471]
Rating/Warnings: PG // Animagus-centric
Gods, I read this earlier today and I'm still speechless. All I can really say is that if you haven't read it already, do it. Now. I promise it doesn't contain any disturbing themes or heartbreak; it's just too beautiful to be put down in words.

Title: Boy Talk [written by [livejournal.com profile] cuthbert_fiddle]
Rating/Warnings: NC-17 // boy-sex, language
Lo and behold, it's a fic where Remus is the seducer! There really aren't enough of those out there, is there? This fic is witty and charming and all of the characters are IC, so there is really nothing to complain about. A lovely piece of fluff, just what one need on a rainy day.

I'm so excited for the gift exchange! We have like 22 people, too!! We're sorting now and will have your Clandestine, nondenominational holiday friend to you ASAP.

I just wrote a new fic, too!

I'm really fond of Rubens, but I ADORE Waterhouse. Have you ever been to The Tate Museum in London? They have some marvelous Waterhouse and Rosetti's!

You mentioned people not being portrayed correctly. For me, this is one of the ultimate examples of this:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ingre,_Grande_Odalisque.jpg I mean, how many extra vertebrae does that woman have?

Yes, I'm so looking forward to Sunday! ♥

And yes, your fic; it's currently on my to-read-as-soon-as-possible list. I hope I'll have time after dinner!

I've never been outside Scandinavia at all, to tell the truth. But I'll remember to visit that museum when I finally get around to visit England!

I agree with you completely. That artist gets rebuffed. Now, this (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2a/Waterhouse_a_mermaid.jpg) is how a woman should look like. Gods, I could stare at her all day long...
One positive thing with classical art is that at least all women are plump and normal-looking, instead of these bag of bones that we see nowadays.
