Two R/S drabbles

I’m listening to my therapist and have written two drabbles that I’m posting as soon as I have finished them. That doesn’t mean I haven’t spent an hour or so tinkering with them. *g*
These are unbeta’d, obviously, so I apologise if the language is off.
Title: Moonlight
Summary: Sirius likes to watch Remus sleep.
Characters/Pairings: Remus/Sirius pre-slash, mentions of James
Genre: Romance
Rating/Warnings: G
Word Count: 151
Sirius likes to watch Remus sleep. He isn’t sure why, but he can’t say that he has really thought the matter over either. James would probably say that he acts like a stalker, which is why Sirius hasn’t told him.
James wouldn’t understand this.
James wouldn’t understand that when the curtains are drawn aside and the not-full moon moonlight falls on Remus’ face, the sight is so somethingful that it almost hurts to look. James wouldn’t understand that it’s important to make sure Remus doesn’t have nightmares or sleep restlessly. James wouldn’t understand that sitting by Remus’ bedside and watching him sleep makes Sirius feel calm for once.
Sirius doesn’t know how he knows all of this, or why he is so certain of it; he just does. This is something between him and Remus, and just the two of them.
So he leans against the bedpost and watches Remus sleep.
Title: Bibliophile
Summary: Remus isn’t the only bookworm among the Marauders.
Characters/Pairings: Remus/Sirius, James, Peter
Genre: Romance/Humour
Rating/Warnings: PG for implied sex
Word Count: 244
A great number of people think that Sirius Black dislikes, no, despises books and reading.
They have evidently never been in the 6th Year boys’ dormitory.
As good as every night, Sirius can be found together with Remus Lupin in the latter’s bed – not snogging, but reading. They lay either side by side or in a haphazard heap, noses buried in a book each. Sometimes Sirius will ask Remus to read to him, and sometimes it’s the other way around. Other nights there will be ardent discussions about which book has the cleverest plot or which character is the most admirable. But in some way or another, every night revolves around literature.
Of course, they are teenage boys. There is a fair amount of kissing and cuddling, but it usually stays within the realm of decency – something their dorm mates are very grateful for. Were things to go further than that (Sirius claims that there is nothing sexier than Remus reciting Sappho) the curtains will be drawn and a silencing spell will be cast. This became routine after Peter Pettigrew became fed up and said, “Listen, mates, I really have nothing against you two being bent, but could you please snog yourselves silly in private?”
So when a bicker over which author is the greatest – Shakespeare or Alexander Dumas, père – turns into kisses and caresses, James Potter charms the curtains to draw shut and casts a silencing spell for them, grinning all the while.

Date: 2008-09-04 05:20 pm (UTC)The image of the boys reading together makes me flail all over the place.
... I have to go and draw those two reading together. Like, now. *g*

Date: 2008-09-03 11:19 pm (UTC)I love the visual of the first one. This is such a lovely thought: James wouldn’t understand that when the curtains are drawn aside and the not-full moon moonlight falls on Remus’ face, the sight is so somethingful that it almost hurts to look. James wouldn’t understand that it’s important to make sure Remus doesn’t have nightmares or sleep restlessly. James wouldn’t understand that sitting by Remus’ bedside and watch him sleep makes Sirius feel calm for once.
And the second one is great. I like the idea of Sirius and Remus reading together (it's such a nice thing to share.)

Date: 2008-09-04 05:23 pm (UTC)Yes, Remus is often the big reader in fandom. But Sirius is intelligent, and a quick thinker, so he'll have to occupy his mind with something, no? Though I think he'd prefer action and plot over, say, Jane Austen. *g*

You have just given me more reasons to love that man even more.
And so lovely, your first drabble - I loved the use of the word "somethingness" - really original, and so strangely befitting of the context.

Date: 2008-09-04 05:30 pm (UTC)I have a tendency to use made-up words, but that's because there are missing in the "actual" language (like, say, uncurious and somethingful).
I'm so happy to hear that you liked the drabbles! Thank you!
